Robbers!!

My car was broken into last week (that is the reason I haven't blogged in a couple weeks) and they stole my backpack out of my car. Just my luck with only three weeks until graduation. My entire research project for my capstone was in there, and although I have my papers backed up in my PC, my research is gone!! I did get a lot of that back already by re-doing surveys & whatnot.
Sometimes life throws crap at you, but it only makes you a better problem solver and optimist.

out of town

I was out of town for a family function this weekend. It was so nice to see my cousins, but it's crazy to see them again all grown up. I don't come from a very close knit family so i don't get to see them often. I can't believe my little cousins are in college and getting ready to graduate next year! Just another thing to remind me of how old I am. It's also weird to meet their boyfriends/girlfriends and see them in that type of relationship. Some of my cousins I haven't seen in 10 years, so it is scary to see them wearing heels and driving nice cars* I love them all though & now that we're back in touch, I'm guessing that I will see a lot more of them.

WEB 2.0

Remember the world before 2.0 sites like myspace and you tube? Its weird to think about, isn't it? I think that web 2.0 is a great thing that helps us stay connected by not only social networking sites like facebook and myspace, but also by picture sharing site and video sharing sites. Just when we all thought we were so technologically advanced with e-mail, along comes an even better way to stay connected and meet new people with similar interests or even networking for jobs and friendships.
I have never had a myspace account but I'm moving to the south in jauary and I don't know anyone there. Myspace would be a great way to possibly meet some people before I get down there. The only drawback to these sites is that it still is the internet and not everybody is honest. But, I guess it's the same in the "real" world too.

The Holidays

The holidays are right around the corner and it makes me think...where did the year go and did I get to do all the things I wanted to? I sure have had quite the year...a lot has changed in my life but in a postive light. I am graduating in December, I have finally gotten out of a really bad and destructive relationship, I traveled to Charleston and met some rgeat opportunities for my event planning goals, I visited Chicago for the first time and also got to see a friend I havent seen in two years. I have built great new friendships and ended the not so good ones. I feel that I am in a much better place in my life than I was a year ago and I am ready to move forward into my future with my head held high* I have finally met the man I know I'm going to spend the rest of my life with and my sister and I have become closer than ever before this year. Life is good, stressful, but happy and well.

patriot Act

I researched privacy on the internet for our group project and i ran across the patriot act. i didn't really know anything about this until I started reading about it for the group wiki project. I found it very interesting because our privacy is truly being invaded and our rights seem to be diminishing as far as privacy goes. The government can now "tap" in to our cell phones and e-mails. I found this horrible that our government is becoming so powerful where its reaching a point where they may invade our privacy when they feel it is needed. What kind of provisions are put on this patriot act...or are there any at all?Americans have always prided ourselves because of all of the rights we have, but how many other rights will be taken from us as the government feels deemed?

Twists & turns

I cant believe the twists and turns that life can take without you even seeing it coming! Its exciting and I love not knowing whats going to happen next. Last year at this time, I didn't even think that I was graduating until summer of 2008, & here I am about to graduate, move down south & start my life! I think it's so funny how things can change in a way that previously to it, you may never have even considered and now its reality.
Mr. Winter is right around the corner...although it's 50 degrees outside, it feels frigid already! Ick! It only makes me want to move even sooner.Chicago was so much fun last weekend! I just got back today and although it's always nice to be home, it's hard to get back into the swing of my busy schedule. My birthday party is this saturday and my sister & her husband are also coming this weekend to celebrate their 1 year anniversary* (they were married last october in mpls.) Another busy week, I also work tomorrow night, thursday night and friday night. I have a work meeting on saturday afternoon too...geez! October always seems so crazy...just in time for the hustle and bustle of the holidays coming up*The shopping in Chicago was pretty good! They have a Michael Kors store...oh my goodness!! I was in heaven* (he's my favorite designer) My credit card won't be used for a couple months though...oh well. It was worth it**
